My Reiki Story : 'The Mystic Art to Invite Happiness'

From a young age, I always struggled.

By the time I was 19, I was diagnosed with an anxiety and panic disorder (among other things) that I was medicated for to live a 'normal' life. I was never taught how to cope with intense emotions or suffering, and for years, I carried the weight of being a closet alcoholic, trying to cope with life the best I could. I spent time in and out of hospitals, feeling lost and hopeless. My mind was often a tumultuous place, and I was told by others that I was "too sensitive," “ I had bad energy” and I just needed to "get over it together." I desperately wanted to, I didnt want to have ‘ Bad energy’ but I didn't know how.

In 2017, my whole world changed when my mum, who was also an alcoholic with type 1 diabetes, suddenly passed away. The pain and heartbreak I felt were unlike anything I had ever experienced. I truly lost someone I loved with my whole heart, and I would have given anything to save her. I didn't know how to cope, and I felt the most intense guilt and sadness. But within the challenges, something extraordinary happened.

but within the challenges, something extraordinary happened.

The universe guided me towards healing. I stumbled upon Reiki.

I received a Reiki treatment from my dear friend Michelle, and for the first time in my life, to my complete disbelief, I actually felt a sense of complete peace and connection.

It was a moment of profound transformation for me. I was drawn and encouraged to learn Reiki, and I embarked on the journey of self-healing through Reiki Level 1.

The experiences I had were beyond words. The healing power of Reiki touched my soul in ways my mind couldn't have imagined. It guided me every step of the way, and I eventually became a fully qualified Reiki teacher in the Komyo Reiki Do system, offering Reiki treatments and teaching all levels of Reiki.

Real healing is compassionate and doesn't discriminate. Even with that label from someone else, you deserve peace and healing. Don't believe what another person thinks about you or what you think of yourself let that stop the possibility of healing. “

Today, I am reminded of one of the simple principles in Reiki that has become one of my guiding principles: "Just for today."

This was a central part of my recovery and healing.

It and Reiki have taught me to focus on the present moment, to acknowledge but let go of worries about the past or the future, and to embrace the healing power of the present.

If you're having a bad day, just do what you can "for today." Today and now are where your power is.

Reiki has shown me, as an ex-skeptic, that healing is not just a physical process, but also something mystic.

There is an unseen power in the universe that is always pulling us towards healing and wholeness.

In this way, Reiki is 'The Mystic Art to Invite Happiness.' Healing has to involve all aspects: the heart, mind, body, and the spirit.

Reiki has helped me find peace amidst the chaos of life and has given me tools to navigate through challenges with grace and true resilience.

I am grateful for the nonjudgmental and compassionate souls I've met on this path, both as a recipient of Reiki and as a Reiki teacher.

I later realized the label 'bad energy' is more to do with what makes another person uncomfortable, what they haven't dealt with, and what they are projecting onto you; it's never really about you.

Negative ideas that another person says about you aren't relevant in this context.

Real healing is compassionate and doesn't discriminate. Even with that label from someone else, you deserve peace and healing.

Don't believe what another person thinks about you or what you may think about yourself

I believe that everyone deserves to experience the healing power of Reiki and to embark on their own transformational journey towards wholeness.

Reiki has shown me, as an ex-skeptic, that healing is not just a physical process, but also something truly mystical. There is an unseen power in the universe that is always pulling us towards healing and wholeness. In this way, Reiki is 'The Mystic Art to Invite Happiness.'

So, if you're seeking healing, if you're looking for a way to find peace amidst the challenges of life, I invite you to consider Reiki, either with me or another healer.

Just for today, let's embrace the power of the present moment and embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing.

You deserve it, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.

Let's walk this path together, even if it’s a messy one

I offer Reiki Treatments for 30-90 minutes, in person or via Zoom, in Ferntree Gully.

I also now teach all levels of Reiki 1:1 or in groups in the Komyo Reiki Do system (flexible options offered).
